They say everything that happens to a person is by choice, the thinking involved before an action or decision is taken. For some people still they blame and ask why people make wrong decisionsand mistakes that affect their lives. In reality everything is not black and white or one plus one equal two, this is the unfavourable realities in the settlement of Lorolwane.The Youth Action Movement (YAM) a youth component structure within the Association, which is a advocacy and leadership movement targeted young people of Lorolwane with comprehensive information and messages in sexuality, sexual rights, family planning and young people empowerment. This initiative was the result of the high teenage pregnancy, limited access to sexual reproductive health and rights services (SRH&R), lack of comprehensive knowledge on (SRH&R). The youth of Lorolwana have been identified as underserved and marginalised with high unemployment, limited opportunities to tap onto in building careers and better livelihoods. The Youth Action Movement in collaboration with BOFWA clinic Kanye undertook an outreach activity which aimed increasing access to SRH&R services including HIV counselling and testing, family planning commodities, STI screening and treatment.The main objective this outreach activity was to create a platform for young people to share knowledge and identify ways which can improve quality of care in terms of service provision. YAM picked a number of issues from young people among them being: Early sex debut, Unwanted and unplanned pregnancies, high unemployment rate, alcohol abuse. Young boys and girls at primary school indulge in sexual intercourse at a very early age as early as 10 years. Unwanted and unplanned pregnancies are common among many young people. This is a result of limited access to family planning commodities within their health post and the nurse is not available at all times. Lack of recreational facilities results in a lot of young people undertaking wrong paths in their lives.The youth of Lorolwane asked that BOFWA continue with their efforts in provision of SRH&R services at their community, particularly because the apprach of youth friendly service which makes it a lot easier for young people access services and get accurate information when it comes to health. The youth said they would appreciate if government departments, parastatials can visit them once in while for example LEA, SRH&R services at their community, particularly because the approach of youth friendly service which makes it a lot easier for young people access services and get accurate information when it comes to health.
